Lauren E. Hix, CIC, CRM is a fourth generation insurance professional, with over 17 years’ experience representing Colorado water. She grew up in northern Colorado, and studied business, English, political science, psychology and sociology at Western State and CU Boulder. Her great-grandfather started a farm agency in Estes Park that still stands today, and her father, Charles F. Hix, III, developed an insurance program for water entities in Colorado in the 1980’s. Being just as passionate about water and Colorado’s agriculture, Lauren has continued his legacy.
Lauren specializes in Risk Management and Insurance consulting for Water (Reservoir & Irrigation/Water & Sanitation/Engineering), Public Entities (Municipalities/Utilities), and Agriculture (Farm & Ranch/Dairy). She obtained her Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 2016, and completed her Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designation in 2021. She is now working on the Assigned Risk Management (ARM) designation for both Public Entity (ARM-P) and Enterprise Risk Management (ARM-E). Lauren has taken a number of Water Law classes with Justice Hobbs over the years, and has nominated for Colorado’s Water Leader’s Program.
Lauren was awarded Young Insurance Professional of the Year in 2013 by Trusted Choice of Colorado for her expertise, thirst for knowledge, outstanding client service, extensive involvement and volunteering in the insurance and water community. She hosts various niche insurance coverage and education classes, and presentations for Colorado State entities throughout the year, such as Colorado Water Conservation Board, Colorado Water Congress, and Ditch and Reservoir Company Alliance. She truly loves being immersed in the water community and events that help educate fellow Coloradoans; she also volunteers a multitude of hours annually to Colorado’s Water Plan, local water conventions, stream/river cleanup and restorations projects, stewardship programs, and roundtables. Lauren has worked with and advised over 620 water and public entity clients throughout the U.S.
